Tech stack
The Rust libraries powering apix under the hood.
Tech stack
apix is written in Rust and built on a small set of well-maintained libraries.
Language
Rust (2024 edition)
Rust provides memory safety without a garbage collector, predictable performance and a single statically-linked binary with no runtime dependencies. This makes apix fast to start, easy to distribute and reliable in production environments.
TUI
Ratatui is the de-facto standard for building terminal UIs in Rust. It provides a retained-mode widget system (layouts, tables, paragraphs, borders) that renders efficiently to any ANSI-compatible terminal. Crossterm handles cross-platform raw-mode input and output — including Windows support.
HTTP
Reqwest 0.13
Reqwest is an ergonomic, async HTTP client built on top of hyper.
apix uses it with the json and cookies features enabled, which gives automatic cookie jar management across requests within a session.
Async
Tokio is Rust's most widely used async runtime. apix uses it to send HTTP requests without blocking the TUI event loop, keeping the interface responsive while waiting for slow responses.
Serialization
Serde provides derive macros (Serialize, Deserialize) that map Rust structs directly to JSON.
All persistent data — history, collections and environments — is stored as human-readable JSON using serde_json.
